While walking up from English Bay to Davie St today, I met Jozet. Jozet is an artist and has been drawing since he was a child in Poland. He asked if I had time to sit so he could sketch my portrait. Absolutely I had time.
I asked if we could have a creative exchange - if he drew my portrait, could I could photograph him.
Joset agreed. I sat. We chatted. And he drew.

A few blocks later on Granville I met this kind sir. I was photographing the pigeons when he told me that his brother had been a photographer and used to keep a camera as a permanent fixture around his neck. He said it takes patience to take a good photograph. Which it rightly does. I sat and ate my lunch with him. He spoke of his three sons and his years of work in the dockyards in Victoria, building ships for the Navy. When I got up to leave he said, "have a good day, dear. And ... be patient."
